RETRAINING NEURAL PATHWAYS THROUGH SOFT YOGA, YIN & SONIC SAVASANA

 

IMMERSION: JANUARY 22, 10:00-12:30.

 

Do you long for a way to find the balance of being calm and present in your body and mind but also being active and expressive in a warm compassionate way? This immersion class focus on strengthening the body’s system for regulating your Nervous System (rest and arousal), so that you can learn to shift more gently between the two.

 

The class will consist of specific soft yoga flows designed with a therapeutic approach combined with breathing exercises, and mantra chanting. The soft flows will help you into an active meditative state, which calms your mind and activates your body awareness. In this perfect balance between rest and arousal, your body can activate its own self-healing.

 

The sequences of postures directly stimulate the vagal nerves branches, which are the pathway to the Nervous System. Our Nervous System react on signals from the internal and external world. It fires muscular tension impulses at millisecond intervals below conscious awareness. These muscle impulses fire our thoughts. So, by stimulating the vagal nerves in a safe, relaxed and active state we provide a very precise re-education and stimulation of the neural pathways. A holistic approach, based on the polyvagal theory, that prevents illness and addresses old, stored trauma in the body and the Nervous System. The aim is to consciously retrain the patterns within the nervous system and rebuild self-regulation skills, reinforcing the vagal neural branches activation.

 

During the practice all muscle groups will be in play and your body will experience gentle bends and twists, leaving you with a soft and energetic feeling of well-being in the hole body.

 

We will then explore Yin yoga poses targeted to stimulate the vagal nerve branches running down the body. Thereafter integrating the whole with the therapeutic benefits of sonic Savasana, which is a guided relaxation accompanied by healing sounds from unique instruments. The vibrations have the ideal frequencies to slow down the brainwaves and shift into a parasympathetic nervous response, helping the body and mind to melt into a state of deep relaxation. The sounds work directly through the autonomic nervous system supporting the body to self-regulation. Working with therapeutic instruments have been proven to enhance the function on the cranial nerves, the middle ear muscles and overall promoting stress relief.
